Description:
| Are you ready to work with people from other cultures? Winter Session in Australia and New Zealand will develop your appreciation for what it means to live and work in culturally diverse societies.
Both countries have international industries, as well as different ethnic populations (Australia’s Aborigine people, and New Zealand’s Maori), so varying cultural values and practices must be accounted for in doing business both locally and globally.
See how this awareness is put into practice in organizational structures and communicative processes, and talk about cultural influences with business leaders. Learn how to assess cultural differences in organization and leadership style, while developing insight into your own leadership style. And get a new perspective on how your own American leadership and communicative styles are part of a continuum, as you observe distinctly different organizations and leadership styles in action.
In addition to coursework, you’ll have the chance to explore both countries, with trips to:
Australia:
The Great Barrier Reef
Rainforests of the Atherton Tableland
The Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Centre
Cape Tribulation Education Centre
Cities of Cairns and Canberra
New Zealand:
The Te Papa Museum
The Maori Arts and Crafts Institute
Cities of:
Christchurch
Queenstown
Wellington
Rotorua
Auckland
While in Australia, you’ll attend classes at Sydney’s St. John’s College; in New Zealand, at Dunedin’s University of Otago. Housing will include a mix of hotels, university residence halls and, in New Zealand, a farmstay.
