Description:
| Professors Jewel Walker and Marjorie Walker designed this program to provide students an opportunity to see plays in the heart of London at the height of the theatre season and to study the history and traditions of British theatre with the actors, directors, and other backstage professionals who make drama come alive. Students will attend at least 14 performances featuring a wide variety of plays, from classical and musical theatre to contemporary experimental shows.
The group will travel on a day-trip to Stratford, with a visit to Warwick Castle, and to Shakespeare properties, including the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. Additional visits are planned to the Old Globe, the Dickens House, London Theatre Schools, backstage at the National Theatre, and the Players Club, a traditional music hall theatre.
Students in this course will be housed in a modern hotel in the Russell Square-Bloomsbury section of London, within a few blocks' walk of the British Museum, the University of London and the University of Delaware London Centre. The hotel has all modern facilities and provides a complimentary full breakfast.
