Description:
| Hong Kong, where East meets West, is a fascinating interweave of seeming opposites: bobbing fishing junks alongside luxury yachts; shimmering skyscrapers beside pagodas; high-tech subways and historic trams; state-of-the-art shopping complexes and alleyway market stalls. It is a global marketplace whose ripples are felt around the world.
Syracuse University's Hong Kong program offers students the opportunity to study the political economies, business, and cultures of East Asia at a pivotal moment in the region's history. As Hong Kong continues to move forward as a Special Administrative Republic (SAR) of the People's Republic of China, students not only study but also participate within a political landscape and marketplace that will be as important to the 21st century as the U.S. was to the 20th.
The Syracuse academic program, hosted by City University of Hong Kong, is designed to allow students to complete 12-14 credit hours of coursework in economics, political science, history, Chinese (Mandarin), humanities, or business. Extensive field study and intensive internships are key components of the modular academic program. A field studies course to mainland China is a key part of the program. Direct enrollment into City University of Hong Kong is also a possible option. | |
