Description:
| Fairfield University is pleased to offer a cultural visit of Paris followed by a special on-site intensive French course at the Université Catholique de l'Ouest/Centre International D'Etudes Françaises in Angers.
In Paris, students will be introduced to the many facets of the history of France through guided visits to significant monuments, neighborhoods and museums. Students will also experience the cultural life of contemporary France through visits to open-air markets, strolls on the Seine river banks, tours of financial and trade institutions, and tastes of traditional gastronomy and night life with a special theatre evening.
In Angers, students will be immersed in a two-week intensive program of French language which will accelerate their preparation to the advanced level. Courses will emphasize the four language skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking. Experienced professors from the Université Catholique de l'Ouest will conduct the classes according to Fairfield University's criteria.
At the end of the program, students' academic performance will be assessed in two ways. (1) Successful completion of daily assignments, class participation and quizzes will determine the final grade conferred by Fairfield University. (2) Students will be able to take an on-site final test designed according to France's national educational standards. Upon successful results, the internationally recognized Certificat de Stage will be awarded.
In Angers, students will be directly exposed to the culture of France through their daily contacts with the French people as they will live and take meals with French families, meet French students on campus, and participate in excursions arranged by the CIDEF (châteaux of the Loire Valley, Mont Saint-Michel and Saint-Malo, Troglodytic Anjou and Cointreau factory)
