Description:
| London, capital of the United Kingdom and financial center of Europe, is a city of history and diversity. In this city of millennial landmarks, sleek glass skyscrapers tower alongside Wren’s 17th Century facades and ancient Roman ruins. As a dynamic world leader in the arts, London is especially famous for theatre. A 500-year-old tradition, the British theatre includes two world famous national repertory companies, a larger-than-Broadway West End theatre scene, and a thriving experimental fringe.The Theatre in London Study Abroad Program consists of six weeks of theatre studies experienced through performances of some of the finest theatre companies in the world: the Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre of Britain, and others.
Courses of study will include Shakespeare in Performance (THEAT 4010), Dramatic Genres (THEAT 4020), and Contemporary Drama (THEAT 4030). Class time will consist of pre and post theatre lectures and course related field trips.
Students may earn up to six hours of U of U credit by taking two of the three courses offered. Credit may be counted towards the completion of Theatre major requirements, and/or meet Fine Arts Integration General Education requirements. Arrangements can also be made for graduate credit. | |
