Description: Prague, capital of the Czech Republic, is a city of incredible beauty and culture. Built on the hills surrounding the Vltava River and dominated by Prague Castle (which began as a ninth-century fortess), Praguee is an ancient center of art and intellect. That status flourishes still, with great cultural resources in art, ballet, theatre, and music; the prestigious fourteenth-century Charles University, the oldest in Central and Eastern Europe; and a major international film festival held each summer toward the end of the FSU Prague Law Program. ABA-approved, the program is held at the Charles University Law Faculty, one of the university's four original departments, which in 1998 celebrated its 650th anniversary. This annual FSU program is open to any student in good standing at an ABA-approved law school who has completed at least one year of study. Enrollment is limited. The FSU College of Law awards graded credit, but the student's home institution has discretion of acceptance. Coursework and excursions: Faculty include both Florida State University and Charles University legal experts. Courses in Czech Law and LEgal Institutions and in European Environmental Policy are offered annually, along with two additional courses in international and comparative law. Program activitives include a city tour of Prague and an opening banquet for students and faculty. Group excursions include the Constitutional Court in Brno and the Terezin concentration camp. Two three-day weekends facilitate independent travel. Housing: Students stay in modern, double-occupancy Charles University dormitories. A continental breakfast is included. All floors, as well as some suites, have kitchen facilities. Eligibility: The program is open only to students attending an ABA-approved law school. Information is Subject to Change
