Description:
| As China opens its doors to foreign investment, the pressure to learn English has never been greater. Learning English is the key to a better job. Many Chinese would like to study abroad, but they can't. Despite recent modernisation, the chance for most Chinese students to spend any time overseas, or even away from their hometown is still little more than a dream.
Working in Secondary schools in Wujiang - a group of towns within the Jiangsu province around 3 hours from Shanghai, Projects Abroad volunteers are needed to improve the conversational skills of school students. Traditional values are still important in China so teachers are well respected and you will find students excited to learn. Class sizes vary between 30 and 40 students, and you will be teaching students aged from 12 to 18 years.
With competition for university places high and fewer opportunities for students outside of the main cities, you will be in demand from both the students and English teachers! Basing lessons on topics within the local curriculum, you can use role-plays, debates and games to encourage the students to speak and develop their vocabulary. | |
