Description:
| The Mélida Anaya Montes English school is looking for volunteers who want to teach English in San Salvador, El Salvador. The school is dedicated to teaching English within a context that facilitates growth as human beings and contributes to the movement for social justice in El Salvador and the world. The Mélida Anaya Montes Language School has adopted the five following underlying themes: Neoliberalism; U.S. Intervention in El Salvador and the Region; Women's Rights; the Social Movement; and the Environment.
Details:
Small classroom setting of 6-8 students.
Training provided for teaching English as a Foreign Language, teachers just need to be fluent in English --workshops on the school themes are an integral part of the trainings.
Not necessary to speak Spanish. For those interested, Spanish classes are available. English teachers pay half price for Spanish classes (where there is at least one other student in the class).
Free participation in our political-cultural program to learn more about El Salvador.
Assistance in finding housing, including living with a Salvadoran family. (Monthly living expenses run from US $250-$400.)
Minimum commitment - ten weeks that consist of one, two-hour class that meets three evenings a week, plus preparation, teacher's meetings and workshops, for duration of the session. Additional teaching and volunteer opportunities are available. | |
