Description:
| Rewarding work in a remarkable country. Equality among Indians is growing. i-Venturers teach English to the children of India to encourage them to become a part of this movement. Rural towns around Kolkata have an even greater desire to learn the universal language.
Three month placement; minimum two months.
Bangalore - A base for many international companies serving the technology needs of Asia, is a prime city in which to learn English. Teaching projects could be in: State schools, business college, convent or nursery.
Ooty - South of Bangalore, in the former British hill station of Ooty, there’s a chance for a real rural teaching experience at a private school. Equipped with facilities such as libraries, computers and audio-visual materials, the school invites you to teach students in smaller classes of about 20 and at a more advanced language level. Whilst living in a boarding school environment, you have the chance to become involved in extra-curricular activities and weekend excursions.
Kolkata
Eager students are found in the poorly-funded state schools where resources are basic: just a blackboard, chalk, shared textbooks and a simple library. Lessons here are the most challenging, but also the most fun. Your students are basic learners: boys and girls aged from six-16, in classes of about 35. Teaching basic English structures and polishing pronunciation, you pave the way to better opportunities ahead for every student. Additional teaching work to the very needy of Kolkata is at nurseries and convents, where English is taught to trainee nuns to enable them to pass skills on to the street children in their care. | |
