Bangalore - Residential Home - Female i-Venturers assist at a Residential Home for Girls, aged six-13, who are physically challenged with polio. These homes provide care, education, training and opportunities for personal development to enable them to become independent. The 55 girls learn factory skills, tailoring, crafts and computer skills. They attend schools, colleges and polytechnics during the day and return home in the afternoons where our volunteers play games, tell stories, lead songs, and indulge in creative craft work. Volunteers also help with English homework and light physiotherapy.
Street Kids
Also in Bangalore, real help is needed with the street kids to give them a chance, a step up in life. Working with a Non Governmental Organisation you: run activities, provide incentives & motivation, give vocational training if you have the skills and are a positive influence.
Deaf Education - In the Deaf Education Centre you can help make a difference by working with children in an educational capacity as well as improving their social skills.
Kolkata - Street Kids - Kolkata offers plenty of opportunities to teach and rehabilitate street children. We work with benevolent orders that come to the rescue of the needy and provide life-changing activities. You teach conversational English, play games, lead singing, organise trips and act as a positive influence to the young. Should you possess expertise in mechanical, construction or other vocational subjects, you could train older children in skills to enable them to enter the workforce. Or you could teach vocational groups 'on-the-job' English in workshops at various locations. Three month placement; minimum two months. | |
