Description:
| Winrock International is a nonprofit organization that works with people around the world to increase economic opportunity, sustain natural resources, and protect the environment. Winrock’s volunteer programs mobilize skilled experts to provide people with the information they need: new techniques to help them work smarter, new skills to cope with market changes, and new ideas to expand their opportunities.
Volunteers generally need at least five years of professional experience. Winrock seeks volunteers with a wide range of expertise. Specialists donate their time. Winrock International and local organizations cover all travel, lodging, food, and incidental expenses. Translators are provided as well. Much of the funding to cover volunteer expenses is provided by the U.S. Agency for International Development.
Since 1991, Winrock has coordinated the work of more than 2,000 volunteers who have used their knowledge and skills in 34 countries across Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the New Independent States of the former Soviet Union.
